Despite President Donald Trump being one of, if not the most, closely watched Americans in the country, he still tested positive for the coronavirus. That underscores how much the virus "is really getting into American society," PBS NewsHour White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor told national correspondent William Brangham. The comment came during a livestreamed conversation about the president’s diagnosis, which was announced early Friday, Oct. 2, and how it would affect the country and the 2020 campaign. Alcindor also noted that the president, while he is currently experiencing only mild symptoms, falls into a high-risk population that could face more serious health impacts from the virus.
