And then the strong attack he made to the institutions, that message that pulled the ears a little, in a simple, kind and polite way, as he was. But at the same time powerful and revolutionary. Those words remained on the island, they shook everyone a little.”

“Lampedusa has been managing the reception of migrants for almost thirty years. We have seen so many tragedies, so the burden was so heavy. We needed someone to share all this with us, to shout from Lampedusa. We shouted, but they never listened to us, so the arrival of Pope Francis was like a father who caresses everyone. He thanked us for everything Lampedusa has always done in welcoming, but above all he was very touched that day.”
