STORYLINE:
Images of Pope Francis were laid out in Lecidere Park in East Timor’s capital of Dili on Tuesday, for people to pay their condolences.
Carrying flowers and candles, many attending the park paid their respects in silence.
“I feel so lost and so sad. I think that the world has lost a father, but heaven received a saint,” said civil servant Ivo Freitas.
Xinoca Xavier described the Pope as "someone who loved all Christians very much, he also loved people with special needs, such as people with physical disabilities.”
Pope Francis will be laid to rest Saturday after lying in state for three days in St. Peter’s Basilica.
The Argentine pope died Monday at age 88 after a stroke put him in a coma and led his heart to fail.
