STORYLINE:
Vice President JD Vance’s half-brother Cory Bowman is running for Cincinnati mayor.
The 36-year-old pastor and coffee shop owner faces Democratic Mayor Aftab Pureval, the former Hamilton County Clerk of Courts and Democratic up-and-comer, and procurement professional Brian Frank.
Both challengers said they didn’t want to see Pureval run unopposed.
Pureval won the 2021 mayor’s race with nearly 66% of the vote in the heavily Democratic city, Ohio’s third largest.
Cincinnati mayoral races are nonpartisan, so the top two vote-getters in the May 6 primary will advance to a runoff in November.
Voting is already under way.
