“Another very important thing was during the Jubilee of Mercy, (Pope Francis) allowed women to confess abortion to any priest because according to canon law, according to the laws of the Church, a woman who had had an abortion could not be absolved by any priest, but had to go to a bishop or a priest to whom the bishop had given this possibility. So it was also very complicated to go and find the bishop, to go and find this priest. Pope Francis gave every priest the possibility to absolve a woman who had had an abortion for the year of the Jubilee of Mercy and then extended this possibility permanently.”
