“We are celebrating Easter at the Buin Biopark Zoological Park. It is not only a Christian tradition, but in our Biopark it has also been a source of joy for the past 15 years to be able to share the search for eggs with the children. In the case of our animals, they search inside the eggs for meat, nuts, fruits, which is also part of what we call environmental enrichment. We are constantly making it difficult for the animals to find food, as they would in the wild. And today, in particular, with the search for these colorful eggs that contain things that they find very attractive.”

STORYLINE:
Animals at the Buin Zoo in Santiago celebrated Easter Sunday with an array of colorful eggs filled with delicious treats.

Snow leopards and lemurs were among those receiving a special treat at Chile’s largest private zoo in Chile.

The Easter eggs are from the zoo’s ostriches, which are collected throughout the year.

They are sanitized, painted with a non-toxic coloring and filled with nutritious food.

According to Ignacio Idalsoaga, director of the zoo, the animals have their usual diet.

Idalsoaga said the traditional search for Easter eggs for the animals has been carried out for 15 years.
