I understand that he sees more comprehensively, he certainly sees the situation differently. I am sorry that this is true, and this is a loss for us. I hope that a worthy vicar of the church will be elected, who will accept everyone as his children, and we will have a good reason to return to the bosom of the church again."

STORYLINE:
Residents of Ukraine’s western city of Lviv on Monday expressed sorrow over the death of Pope Francis.
Lviv is home to large number of Catholics and is one of the most important centers of Catholic life in the country.
"It is sadness and regret that fill our hearts during this joyful time that we usually experience during the Easter holiday," said Roman Broda, vicar of the Cathedral Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Some in Lviv hope that the next Pope will be more supportive of Ukraine.
Many Ukrainians criticized Pope Francis for suggesting that Kyiv should have the “courage” to negotiate an end to the war with Russia – a statement widely interpreted as a call for Ukraine to surrender.
In an interview recorded in February 2024 with Swiss broadcaster RSI , Pope Francis used the phrase “the courage of the white flag,” arguing that Ukraine, facing possible defeat, should be open to peace talks brokered by global powers.
