"We will certainly not hesitate a single day to lift and remove the illegal sanctions against the Iranian nation as soon as possible. From this perspective, we are serious. Speed is very important to us, and this depends on the other side."

6. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman:
"Referring to what the Europeans call the ‘snapback mechanism’ (on sanctions) is by no means constructive. European countries must decide whether they want to play a constructive role in this process and restore their positions (as part of the negotiations), or act as non-constructive forces."

"The next round (of talks with the U.S) will be held in Muscat. Both a technical meeting and a meeting at the level of senior negotiators, which is currently scheduled for Saturday."

STORYLINE:
The next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will take place in Muscat, Oman, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman said Monday.
Email Bagahei said technical meetings, which Iran has said are set to start in coming days, will be followed by high-level negotiations currently scheduled for Saturday.
Both Iran and the United States said they made progress in their second round of talks, which took place Saturday in Rome.
That talks are even happening represents a historic moment, given the decades of enmity between the two countries since the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the U.S. Embassy hostage crisis.
Trump, in his first term, unilaterally withdrew from Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers in 2018, setting off years of attacks and negotiations that failed to restore the accord that drastically limited Tehran’s enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions.
At risk is a possible American or Israeli military strike on Iran’s nuclear sites, or the Iranians following through on their threats to pursue an atomic weapon.
Meanwhile, tensions in the Middle East have spiked over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza and after U.S. airstrikes targeting Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels killed more than 70 people and wounded dozens more.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing in Tehran, Baghaei underscored Iran’s urgency in resolving issues related to U.S. sanctions, which he described as “illegal” and harmful to the Iranian people.
"We will certainly not hesitate a single day to lift and remove the illegal sanctions against the Iranian nation as soon as possible," Baghaei said.
Baghaei also criticized Europe for their reference to the so-called “snapback mechanism,” warning that invoking it would not help the ongoing diplomatic efforts.
"Referring to what the Europeans call the ‘snapback mechanism’ is by no means constructive," he said.
