"He was a simple, puritanical man who had tried to bring this to the church as well, rather with less success. Of course, today the pope has relatively little power and voice. Whatever he said, unfortunately, the world did not want to listen to him."

STORYLINE:
Bells of the Franciscan church and monastery rang in tribute to Pope Francis in the northern Hungarian town of Szécsény on Monday.
"We were shocked by the news, especially since it is Easter, and we lost the Pope,” a local resident, Katalin Havasi said.
"However, it was foreseeable that trouble would happen sometime soon. Unfortunately, it reached him to-day” she said in front of the church, which was built in the 14th century upon permission from Pope John XXII.
Tributes to Pope Francis poured in from around the world on Monday after the Vatican announced the pontiff’s death at age 88.
Lajos Vámosi, another resident of Szécsény recalled his legacy as a "simple, puritanical man."
History’s first Latin American pontiff charmed the world with his humble style and concern for the poor but alienated many conservatives with critiques of capitalism and climate change.
