"He was a living example of Jesus at a time where the world is dark, the world is witnessing wars and ugly things are happening but he was in his life and throughout many situations that we have seen love, humility, peace that could be seen to the whole world, he managed to show that there are still people who can be light to the world, this was my feeling that we have lost something but also I have faith that this light was delivered by him to other people inside and outside the church"

STORYLINE:
Members of the Latin Catholic church community in Cairo commented on the passing of Pope Francis on Monday, honouring his humility, service, care and inclusion.
Many saw him as an inspiration and described his path as "following the steps of Jesus, a true servant leader" .
Pope Francis was history’s first Latin American pontiff who charmed the world with his humble style and concern for the poor but alienated conservatives with critiques of capitalism and climate change, died at age 88 on Monday.
Claudio Lurati, Bishop for Latin Catholics in Egypt, stated that he was man of peace who always believed in dialogue.
"I think, everybody felt touched by his humility and by his total lack of aggression towards everybody. So, he was really a man of peace looking for dialogue in all circumstances" said Lurati.
Francis, who suffered from chronic lung disease and had part of one lung removed as a young man, was admitted to Gemelli hospital on Feb. 14, 2025, for a respiratory crisis that developed into double pneumonia.
He spent 38 days there, the longest hospitalization of his 12-year papacy.
He made his last public appearance on Easter Sunday — a day before his death — to bless thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square, drawing wild cheers and applause. Beforehand, he met briefly with U.S. Vice President JD Vance.
Francis performed the blessing from the same loggia where he was introduced to the world on March 13, 2013 as the 266th pope.
