STORYLINE:
Thousands of Filipino Catholic faithful attended Easter Sunday rites in Quezon City at the culmination of Holy Week celebrations.
The pre-dawn procession of Salubong sees the reenactment of the newly risen Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary.
Many among the crowd held candles as they watched the ritual.
"We pray for longer lives and ask forgiveness of our sins," said Luisito Sinco, 64.
The week between Palm Sunday and Easter, known as Holy Week, is the most sacred time of the year for Christians, when the faithful commemorate the passion of Jesus.
