"A destroyed church is a shattered soul of the community. Because people don’t just come to a temple, they come with faith, with hope, with prayer. With prayer, they pray for the health of people who want to live. They also pray for peace when a person dies, and all this happens around the temple. When churches fall, the heart and core that unite the people begin to collapse."

"My personal opinion is that there will be no ceasefire. And even if there is one, there are no details on where it would apply. On the front line our soldiers are still fighting. As long as they (Russians) shoot, so they (Ukrainians) will shoot. That’s how it will be. They simply will not give us the territory, and we will not give it to them. And what Putin says, he said one thing tonight, in three minutes something else, and all this is not in favor of Ukraine. There is no faith in this, in one word."

STORYLINE:
Dozens of Ukrainians gathered outside the ruins of a damaged church in northern Ukraine on Sunday to mark Easter, doubting a ceasefire with Russia might be possible.
More people than usual gathered in the damaged church’s courtyard on Sunday.
