"For ICE’s part, Louisiana offers relatively low labor costs and more conservative courts. The U.S. immigration detention system is the largest in the world and it’s on the cusp of explosive growth as President Donald Trump promises mass deportations. It’s a potential boon for private prison companies like the one that operates the detention center here in Jena. And contracts for more detention centers have already been awarded. This month, ICE published a request for bids to operate detention centers for up to forty five billion dollars."
