7. SOUNDBITE (English), Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:
"The US ignored the outcomes regarding the balance of interests through multilateral trade negotiations and has abused tariffs under the pretext of reciprocity and fairness. This seriously impacts the global economic order and multilateral trading system and seriously undermines countries’ interests and wellbeing. Such unilateral and hegemonic and bullying moves also pose unprecedented difficulties and challenges to the UN and the multilateral cause. We support the international community in using various platforms including UNGA to have discussions."

9. SOUNDBITE (English), Lin Jian, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson:

"The Chinese government has never asked and will never ask any company to collect or store data against the laws. China firmly opposes relevant parties’ groundless suspicion and vilification against China that lacks factual basis. Relevant departments of the UK side should stop politicizing economic issues and over-stretching the concept of national security, stop going after and accusing China’s high-tech companies. Instead, they should do more things that promote bilateral cooperation between the two sides."

STORYLINE:
China has expressed appreciation to Cambodia for the handover of Taiwanese nationals suspected of fraud last week.
Cambodia said on Tuesday that it had arrested the suspects in late March. On Monday Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement criticizing the move by Cambodia.
Responding to reports that China will host an informal UN General Assembly meeting on US tariffs next week, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian further criticized the recent measures imposed by the Trump administration, saying that the US "abused tariffs under the pretext of reciprocity and fairness," which caused challenges to the UN.
Lin also confirmed a Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations meeting in Moscow earlier this month, including China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, Belarus and Iran.
Separately, Lin also responded to recent concerns raised by the UK on the use of Chinese drones to photograph important infrastructure in the UK, saying that China has never and will never ask a company to collect data illegally.
