STORYLINE:
As national Democrats face challenges, San Francisco’s new mayor is taking a different tone, promising collaboration in a city long known for political infighting and public safety concerns.
Mayor Daniel Lurie, a political newcomer and Levi Strauss heir, unseated incumbent London Breed last November, spending nearly $10 million of his own money.
He vowed to restore trust in government after years of high-profile homelessness, open drug use, and downtown decline.
