2. SOUNDBITE (English) Arthur Aidala, Harvey Weinstein’s attorney:
"The trial has begun. The judge is vetting the jurors. We’re going to go up there and do the best we can to get a fair and impartial jury and proceed to opening statements maybe as early as tomorrow or Thursday. Nothing exciting or special going on right now except we’re going to do the best we can to make sure anyone who is going to sit on the jury does not have any preconceived notions or predisposed ideas of what a verdict should be and that they only base their verdict on the evidence that they’re going to hear during this apparently two-month long trial."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Arthur Aidala, Harvey Weinstein’s attorney:
"Harvey’s been struggling with all kinds of physical ailments. All kind of health issues, but there’s a degree of nervous energy in a positive way to finally have his voice heard and his day in court under very different circumstances than five years ago and he’s cautiously optimistic that when all the evidence is out the jury will find that all of his relationships were consensual and therefore reach a verdict of not guilty."

STORYLINE:
As jury selection started on Tuesday in Harvey Weinstein’s New York City rape retrial, some prospective jurors made clear they couldn’t be fair in judging the one-time Hollywood mogul-turned-#MeToo pariah.
Mark Axelowitz, an actor who plays a Manhattan prosecutor in the new Robert De Niro film “The Alto Knights,” was one of more than a dozen candidates who raised a hand when the judge asked if anyone felt they couldn’t be impartial.
Another dismissed prospective juror disqualified herself because she had previously been sexually assaulted. Yet another wondered whether anyone could be impartial.
So far, no jurors have been picked. The process continued after a lunch break.
