STORYLINE:
Taiwan’s stock market was up as it opened Monday.
It comes after Wall Street closed higher on Friday, as US President Donald Trump announced a pause on tariffs on some consumer electronics.
The Trump administration late Friday had said it would exclude electronics from broader so-called reciprocal tariffs, a move that could help keep the prices down for phones and other consumer products that aren’t usually made in the U.S.
At 09:55 am, Taiwan’s main stock index rose 175.84 points or 0.90% to 1970.61.
