Why is Pakistan sending Afghan refugees back to face the Taliban? | DW News

Pakistan says the number of Afghan refugees repatriated from Pakistan has now reached one million.

Pakistan started pressuring Afghans to leave in November 2023, saying they posed a security threat.

More than a million more Afghan refugees still living in Pakistan now fear being forced to leave.

With the number of repatriations rising sharply, there are concerns the situation in Afghanistan will turn into a humanitarian crisis.
