Scientists discover gas linked to living organisms more than 120 lightyears from Earth | DW News

Scientists say they have found the strongest evidence yet of extraterrestrial life on a planet far far away.
Using the James Webb space telescope, the team has detected specific gases on a planet known as K2-18b. On Earth, the gases are only produced by living organisms, mainly algae and other microbes. The discovery suggests the planet may be teeming with microbial life. But the scientists stress they haven’t yet discovered actual alien life. Instead, this is the first hint that biological processes are happening on a planet other than Earth.
