STORYLINE:
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced a major drug bust at a press conference in Port Everglades seaport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday, after over 48,200 pounds of illegal narcotics were seized by the Coast Guard in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Bondi said the drugs were worth over half a billion dollars, and she characterized their seizure as a major blow to drug cartels.
FBI Director Kash Patel added that the operation to seize the drugs represented a “whole of government approach” that will “get all the drugs off the streets.”
“As Attorney General Bondi said, we are gonna lock them up. They are no longer gonna be free to roam,” Patel added.
