"We captured Chinese fighters on the territory of Ukraine. Ukrainians entered the battle in Donetsk region, Tarasivka and Belohorivka, with six Chinese fighters – two were captured. Accordingly, there are documents and passports, there are even credit cards. These are Chinese citizens. I think this is a very important element, I think the United States of America should pay attention to what is happening today. And we expect after this, that this is another country that militarily supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – on the side of Russia. This is another one after Iran and the North Korean military."

"But there is a difference: the North Koreans fought against us in Kursk, the Chinese are fighting on the territory of Ukraine. And I think this is an important point that we probably need to discuss with our partners urgently. I understand that we are a strong country, but we cannot fight simultaneously with many countries, all of which need something on our land. We very much hope that after this situation the Americans will talk more with the Ukrainians, and then with the Russians. And we very much hope that the Chinese side will also react. I will instruct the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defense to contact their Chinese counterparts so that they can give us an explanation of these actions."

"We’ve met each other in Paris and we are determined, if there is a ceasefire that is of course accepted by Ukraine, that we should back it up militarily. And it’s Keir Starmer and President Macron who took the lead on this, who are planning with our Ministry of Defense and our military planners and the chief of staff of our army, what concrete initiatives can be taken in the case of a ceasefire. And for me, it seems very logical that if France and England and Germany may be… take the initiative and send people over, that we will go along. We are a founding country of the European Union, we are a founding country of NATO, we’ve always been a part of multilateral coalitions and certainly of peace initiatives. So I think our place will be at their side when the day comes."
7. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Volodymr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian President:
"Yes, we are discussing the option so that a complete ceasefire could open the way to a diplomatic end to the war because coalitions of the willing could emerge in Ukraine right after a complete ceasefire. It is too early to talk about infrastructure, but it is important that among the various leading countries there is Belgium, which also supports this direction."
