“Pakistan won’t be hurt much by the tariff decision of the US government. Pakistan’s economy has a lot of potential. Electricity prices have been lowered recently. It is hoped that the circular debt issue will be resolved and so will be the issues of IPPs (Independent Power Producers). The interest rate is also likely to come down in the coming days. This is an opportunity for new investors to enter the market and make money.”

STORYLINE:
Pakistan’s stock exchange dropped on Monday before recovering some of its losses, as US President Donald Trump doubled down on tariffs.
“The tariffs announced by the Trump administration affected the whole market. At one stage the market had dropped by 8000 points. Trading had to be halted," Sheheryar Butt, an analyst at the Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi, said.
But traders remained hopeful that the market would recover because of Pakistan’s economic potential.
“Electricity prices have been lowered recently. It is hoped that the circular debt issue will be resolved and so will be the issues of IPPs (Independent Power Producers). The interest rate is also likely to come down in the coming days. This is an opportunity for new investors to enter the market and make money,” Jibran Sarfraz, a trader, said.
