It’s just scary to realize it. We went downstairs with my dad in about 10 seconds. And I immediately realized that it was over, I accepted it immediately, over. And my mom was looking out the window and screaming, asking “what?” and “how?”. We live on the fourth floor. I didn’t know how to tell her (that he was dead).”

You live their lives, experience their problems, their good and bad moods. And at this moment you realize that you are helpless, you can do nothing. This is a pain that is simply indescribable. You realize that you will live with this pain for the rest of your life because this child was a part of your soul.”

STORYLINE:
Anger and outrage gripped the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday as it held funerals for some of the 20 people, including nine children, killed by a Russian missile that tore through apartment buildings and blasted a playground.
More than 70 people were wounded in the attack last Friday evening on Kryvyi Rih. The children were playing on swings and in a sandbox in a tree-lined park at the time. Bodies were strewn across the grass.
The U.N. Human Rights Office in Ukraine said it was the deadliest single verified strike harming children since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. It was also one of the deadliest attacks so far this year.
“They were holding hands,” said Roman Nikitskyi, Danylo’s father.
