STORYLINE:
Hundreds in the occupied West Bank mourned on Monday a Palestinian-American teen who was shot dead by Israeli soldiers the day before.
The military said the teen, 14-year-old Amer Rabie, was throwing rocks and endangering motorists on a road near the West Bank town of Turmus Aya.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said Rabie was killed in the incident, and two others were injured, one in critical condition.
Turmus Aya is a town with a sizable population of Palestinian-Americans.
Amer’s father, Mohammed Rabie, said he called the American embassy by the time the family heard the shooting and the news about injured people on Sunday evening.
"But later, I got the news about his killing," the father said.
Meanwhile, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Palestinians observed a general strike on Monday to protest the war in Gaza.
The shops were closed and there were few cars on the streets of Ramallah where the Western-backed Palestinian Authority is headquartered.
