Will this affect Trump’s hopes to take Greenland and control the Arctic? | DW News

The head of the US military base in Greenland has been fired after criticising the Trump administration’s plans for the Arctic island. Colonel Susannah Meyers – seen here on the left – met with Vice President JD Vance during his visit to Greenland two weeks ago. While he was there, the Vice President criticised Denmark’s control of Greenland – a resource-rich island which President Trump wants the US to take over. Colonel Meyers is reported to have distanced herself from Mr Vance’s comments, saying they were not reflective of the military base.
