STORYLINE:
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum laced up her gloves on Sunday for a mass boxing class alongside boxing legends Julio César Chávez and Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Durán.

The annual mass boxing class was held in Mexico City’s central square under the slogan "Stay away from drugs, fentanyl kills you," an event using sports to promote a healthy lifestyle at a time when the Mexican government has launched a campaign to combat childhood obesity.

Thousands of people of all ages, professional boxers and fans gathered with the goal of keeping young people away from drugs.

Among the participants was Javier Torres, a champion of the National Boxing Council in 2003 and boxing coach.

“It’s a huge excitement; that’s why we are here to encourage and support all those young people who have fallen into the vices of drugs, inviting them to improve their quality of life with a little sport, and what’s better than boxing.”
