"There is a great diversity of pieces including pre-Hispanic works which are created before the Spanish colonization, as well as colonial, modern, and contemporary pieces. One of the most striking is a life-size warrior from the pre-colonial period, which highlights the importance of birds in traditional pre-Hispanic clothing."

"There is a diversity of cultures that have inhabited the territory, which maintains a symbolic, political, economic and spiritual connection with the 1,120 bird species currently found throughout the national territory. These (bird) species have been used as a resource and have served as a constant theme in the artistic productions of this region of the Americas."

And so it’s also the idea here at the museum, the YSL Museum of Marrakesh, we want to expose our public, whether it be both Moroccans as well as foreign visitors to the richness of other worlds, and the dialogues between Moroccan and Mexican arts and crafts."
