STORYLINE:
The ancient Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery, commonly known as the Me Nu Brick Monastery, now lies in ruin following the destructive earthquake that shook Myanmar last week.
The centuries-old monastery was one of many buildings and structures to be destroyed in Mandalay, near the epicenter of the magnitude 7.7 quake.
The Ava Bridge in the city also collapsed into the Irrawaddy River.
A week after the earthquake that killed more than 3,300 people, search teams continue to pull more bodies from the ruins of buildings.
As the search for survivors dwindles, the focus is turning toward the urgent humanitarian needs in a country already devastated by a continuing civil war.
The quake worsened an already dire crisis with more than 3 million people displaced from their homes and nearly 20 million in need even before it hit.
