Netanyahu tells Trump Israel will work to eliminate trade deficit with US | DW News

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told US President Donald Trump that his country will work to eliminate its trade deficit with the US and remove trade barriers.

The two leaders held talks at the White House after Trump imposed a 17% levy on Israel, despite the counties’ close relationship. Netanyahu is the first foreign leader to meet face to face with President Trump since he announced his sweeping new tariffs. The two also discussed efforts to secure the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza, as well as tensions with Iran.
