Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that Ukrainian troops are fighting in Russia’s Belgorod region. Zelenskyy has said the move into Kursk and other Russian territory aims to divert Russian forces from Ukraine.
But Russia is on a major recruitment drive — the largest draft since its war against Georgia. Rights groups fear the government might force many of these conscripts to sign military contracts – which mean they could be sent to fight.
