Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy says there’s been no response from the US after Russia rejected a ceasefire proposal put forward by Washington. Zelenskyy says Moscow’s ongoing attacks prove that it does not want to end the war.
Despite Washington’s waning support for Ukraine, some US volunteers fighting there are not giving up. It’s unclear exactly how many Americans have gone to Ukraine to take up arms, but Kyiv says around 20,000 foreigners have joined its ranks. In addition to the Americans, the Foreign Legion includes soldiers from the UK, Georgia and Belarus.
