Nearly 500 measles cases in Texas since January | DW News

A second child has died in a fast-moving measles outbreak in Texas. Nearly 500 people have been infected in the state since January. The hospital confirmed that the 8-year-old victim had not been vaccinated. The deaths are the first from the disease in the United States in a decade. Measles was declared eradicated in America in 2000. But officials fear misinformation about vaccines is fueling public skepticism and a resurgence of the disease.
For more information, DW spoke to Owais Durrani, an Emergency doctor in Houston, Texas.
