4. SOUNDBITE (English): Chadchart Sittipunt, Bangkok Governor:
“There’s hope but frankly hope gets a little bit slimmer every day, as each day passes. But I think today our staff got a phone call from Myanmar that they just found a survivor, one survivor, and it happened the same time. So if it happens there it can happen here too.”
5. Various of rescue operation on collapsed building
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Chadchart Sittipunt, Bangkok Governor:
“The rescue operation is still going on. Last night we lifted about a hundred tons of debris out and found more space to work on but still we just found one more dead body, not any survivor yet. And today we shifted a little bit. We move more heavy equipment in so that we can gain better access. But still the rescue operation still going on but maybe shift a little bit more to recovery and with heavy equipment so I think we are gaining more ground and we try to access fire exits on both sides. So now heavy equipment, stop, and rescue going in and then heavy equipment.”

STORYLINE:
Bangkok’s governor said Wednesday hope of finding survivors from beneath the rubble of a collapsed building in the city was growing slimmer but that authorities continued to believe it was possible.

Chadchart Sittipunt said the operation, which has been ongoing since last Friday’s deadly earthquake brought the building down, was now shifting more towards recovery.

Fifteen bodies have so far been retrieved from the ruins.

It’s thought more than 70 people are still missing.
