"Here I am again surrounded by daffodils in Anne Boleyn’s orchard. Literally tens of thousands here. And this is an area that would have been in use when Anne Boleyn was in residence at the castle. The daffodils here, some of them go back over 100 years. So it is a really lovely, special place to be in."

"At this time of year early spring, I have to say, is my favorite time in the gardens. Everything is looking lush. It’s perfect. The weeds haven’t started to emerge yet, and it’s the time of year when I just want to press that pause button and freeze everything now."

"The festival that we have of spring is actually kind of celebrating everything. We’ve got the daffodils here. The late daffodils. They will merge into the tulips. The wonderful bedding displays we have here, complemented by the apple blossoms, the cherry blossoms. And we are so lucky with the weather. It really is going to be a feast."

"So the most famous resident here at Hever Castle is Anne Boleyn. She lived here as a child and then when she came back from France. But she’s probably most famous for being second wife of Henry the eighth and England’s first queen to be executed."

"I think in today’s mindset she is a bit of a feminist icon. But in the Tudor period there was no feminism. You know she was just being herself. And unfortunately that wasn’t the standard of the day. She was too opinionated. She argued with Henry. At first that sort of characteristic was alluring to him but that wasn’t what he wanted as a wife. When she married him he expected her to become the typical Tudor wife and unfortunately Anne’s character just didn’t allow her to be submissive."
