STORYLINE:
Heavy equipment continued to excavate rubble from a collapsed high-rise building under construction in Bangkok on Tuesday in hopes of finding survivors.
The governor of Bangkok said authorities are investigating why it collapsed during an earthquake that otherwise caused limited damage in the Thai capital.
Authorities say 78 people are still missing after Friday’s quake.
The governor said it was crucial to establish what went wrong to improve building safety in the city, where millions of people live and work in thousands of high-rise buildings.
The magnitude 7.7 quake killed more than 2,000 people in Myanmar and at least 18 in Thailand, most at the Bangkok construction site.
