STORYLINE:
A flight carrying 175 Venezuelan migrants deported from the United States arrived in Caracas on Sunday.

It is the third group to arrive in Venezuela since repatriation flights resumed a week ago.

Among this group is an alleged member of a criminal organization, Venezuelan authorities said.

Unlike previous occasions when the transfer was carried out on a flight of the Venezuelan state company Conviasa, this time an aircraft of the US airline “Eastern” landed with the deportees at the airport of Maiquetía, in the outskirts of Caracas.

Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, who received them at the airport terminal, said that the 175 returnees are coming back “after having been subjected as all Venezuelans to persecution” and rejected the accusations that they belong to the criminal organization “El Tren de Aragua.”

However, Cabello affirmed that for the first time in these flights someone of weight arrives who has been claimed by the Venezuelan justice, and he is not from El Tren de Aragua, but belongs to a gang that operates in the northwestern state of Trujillo.

The minister did not specify their identity, nor did he provide information on the place to which they would be transferred.
