STORYLINE:
LEADIN:
A festival of cars has been held in the Albanian capital Tirana.
Classic and vintage vehicles drove through the city’s streets as part of the celebrations.
STORYLINE:
Retro cars cruise past onlookers.
In the heart of Tirana, Mother Teresa and Italia Squares have been transformed into a temporary race track.
But this isn’t about speed – the aim is to show off the beautiful lines of classic cars rather than try to come first.
The event is part of the Automotive Fair Albania.
Albania, a tiny country in the Western Balkans with a 2.4 million population, counts 960,000 vehicles.
It shows how far the nation has come since the fall of communism in 1990, when no private cars were allowed.
The fair is organised by the Old Cars Club, which is based in Bari, Italy.
