On whether I can get clothes for the other children? No, because I only got clothes for the little girl. The Eid atmosphere is certainly very difficult because most of my relatives, my uncles and my brother were all killed during the war. STORYLINE:
Ramadan is drawing to an end and Muslims around the world will soon start celebrating the holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
Eid is a joyous time marked with prayers and festivities that typically include family visits, gatherings and gifts.
But Palestinians in Gaza City say they are unable to celebrate Eid as they normally would amid the grim reality of war.
A market was set up among the dust and uneven ground on Friday, surrounded by the ruins of destroyed buildings.
Stalls displayed clothing, accessories, sweet biscuits, confections and other items.
But most shoppers were only able to browse, unable to afford the goods on display.
Ghada al-Borei, a mother of seven, worked as a private tutor before the war.
Now she relies heavily on aid and says she can only afford to buy new clothes for her youngest.
And with many relatives killed in the way, this year’s Eid will be "very difficult’, she admits.
