Myanmar military rulers declare ceasefire in civil war to assist earthquake relief efforts | DW News

Myanmar’s military rulers have declared a temporary ceasefire in the civil war to assist earthquake relief efforts.

State television are reporting that junta chief Min Aung Hlaing has ordered a halt to the fighting until April 22nd. Several armed groups fighting the military had already unilaterally suspended hostilities during the quake recovery. Officials say the death toll from last week’s earthquake has now risen above 3,000.
