How are Asian countries preparing for Trump’s new barrage of tariffs? | DW News

On what he has dubbed "Liberation Day," US President Donald Trump is set to impose sweeping new reciprocal tariffs on many countries, the details of which are still unknown.

Asian countries, many of which are big exporters to the US, are watching anxiously. Japan, China, and South Korea have already signalled they will work together on their responses that will likely include more retaliatory tariffs against the US.

With much still unclear about how the tariffs will work, DW spoke to Hong Kong-based economist Trinh Nguyen for more on how countries in Asia were preparing for them.
