2. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Andrii Sybiha, Ukrainian Foreign Minister:
"We separately touched on the topic of strengthening sanctions against Russia. We share the position that pressure on the aggressor must be maintained and increased. Moscow will engage in deception, not negotiations, until it feels the real power of diplomatic sanctions. There can be no easing of pressure as long as Russian aggression continues. Russia is an existential threat to Europe. And our common goal is to protect it against this."

4. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Andrii Sybiha, Ukrainian Foreign Minister:
"Today I also informed my colleagues about Ukraine’s steps on the path to a just peace, about the results of the meeting in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine has proven that it is not an obstacle to peace. Now Russia must show with concrete actions, not manipulations, a real desire to end the war. Otherwise, it will be necessary to increase pressure on Moscow."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Espen Barth Eide, Norwegian Foreign Minister:
"We must not be naive. Norway is the neighbor of Russia. We know them quite well. We know how they negotiate. And it is incredibly important to agree on the fine print and on the details before anybody goes out celebrating agreements. I think that was demonstrated very clearly yesterday in Riyadh, that what seemed to be an agreement was not that much agreed, because then the whole list of new demands came out of Moscow. So let’s welcome the fact that there are conversations, but let’s be extremely realistic and extremely strategic in how we approach them."

"Thinking quite a lot about the experience of what happened in Yalta, in Crimea, which is Ukraine, 85 years and one month ago, where the great powers of the time met, actually only to agree on how the Second World War would be concluded. But the outcome was a very long division of Europe, and we don’t want to see a new Yalta in that sense. This is really a European issue, in addition to, obviously, a Ukraine issue, that we do not want to allow President Putin to install terms which will resemble Yalta. Times are over for when great powers decided that the future of European countries without their presence."

STORYLINE:
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Wednesday that Russia must show concrete actions toward peace.

"Ukraine has proven that it is not an obstacle to peace. Now Russia must show, with concrete actions and not manipulations, a real desire to end the war," Sybiha said on Wednesday, commenting on talks in Saudi Arabia.

After three days of separate U.S-Ukrainian and U.S.-Russian talks in Riyadh, Washington said it had agreed with the warring parties to implement a pause on attacks on energy infrastructure as well as taking steps to ensure safe navigation for ships in the Black Sea.

Those talks were part of a broader effort by President Donald Trump’s administration toward a limited, 30-day ceasefire that Moscow and Kyiv agreed to in principle last week, but has thus far failed to materialize as both sides continue to launch drone and rocket attacks against the other.

Speaking at a news conference in Kyiv alongside his Norwegian counterpart, Sybiha called for "strengthening sanctions against Russia."

"Moscow will engage in deception, not negotiations, until it feels the real power of diplomatic sanctions," he said.
