US Vice-President JD Vance and wife Usha visited Greenland on Friday to “check out security”, but many locals are worried there’s a political agenda to the visit.
Vance addressed the media saying that there are no immediate plans to expand the US military presence in Greenland, but added he’s seen “very strong evidence" that China and Russia are interested in this area.
The vice-president also criticised Denmark saying "Our message to Denmark is simple, you have not done a good job for the people of Greenland. This is why Trump’s policy is what it is."
Greenland’s Acting Prime Minister Mute B Egede said "Just for the record, the government of Greenland has not extended any invitations for any visits, neither private nor official."
