“We’re selling the lumber to the Canadians, and they’re making something out of it up there and then shipping it back into the US. So those products are going to get hit twice because the raw material is going to get hit on the way up, and then the finished goods are going to get hit again on the way back. So that really makes for a, you know, if those companies go out of business because of this trade war then I don’t know what’s going to happen down here, it’s going to be really hard on what’s left of the lumber industry down here.”

“The timing of it’s really unfortunate because we buy most of our logs in the winter to get through this season that we’re coming into now, where the ground’s soft, it’s muddy and they can’t log. So, we’re sitting on a very large stockpile of logs, much of which we’d planned to ship out to Asia. And now that market is all in flux and the logs that we thought we were going to make a huge, a good profit on, we are now looking at a potential loss on all of it.”

“We work on a small, low single-digit margin. So just a couple percent one way or the other can have a huge impact on whether we’ve had a profitable year or not. And so, for somebody to come in and and throw 25% tariffs on stuff is a really, is a real problem.”

“We use a lot of steel throughout our operations also. We use a lot of saws. Saws are a consumable product here. They only have so much life in them. So, all the extra increased cost in on steel production, that’s going to affect us also.”
