"I think that it’s all self-serving for the president. Why? Why does he need to do this now, when there’s so much else going on in the world that needs attention? I think his motivation for doing it is interesting and questionable in my mind. What is in the documents? I don’t feel like I need to know anymore."

"I think that JFK’s assassination is probably one of the most interesting moments in American history, because it marks such a turning point. With his assassination, it’s kind of that big what if? What if JFK had stayed in office? What if he’s able to pass through all the different reforms that he was talking about towards the second end of his … tail end of his presidential term? Like, what if? What if? What if? What if? That, I think, is the big question. I think that’s why everybody’s so obsessed with JFK’s assassination."

"Yeah, my first reaction was a little bit startled. It’s, like, why? You know, this family and you know, everyone involved in that’s been through enough. It seems to me, again, self-aggrandizing way of drawing attention to himself and another way of firing up conspiracy theories which plays to his base. So, I think it’s all self-absorbed and self-focused, in my opinion."

STORYLINE:
President Donald Trump’s decision to declassify and release files related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has sparked skepticism from some visitors at the JFK Presidential Library.

Many questioned the timing and Trump’s motivation for releasing documents stemming from the 1963 assassination in Dallas.

The Kennedy assassination in Dallas on November 22, 1963, has remained a subject of enduring public fascination and numerous conspiracy theories despite the official conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.

Those who spoke while on their way to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston were either curious about potential new revelations or suspicious that Trump was motivated by politics.

Previous administrations have released some classified materials related to the assassination, historians and conspiracy theorists have long sought access to the remaining documents, arguing they could either put theories to rest or reveal new information about one of the most traumatic events in American history.
