STORYLINE:
Dozens of people protested on Monday in front of the town hall in the North Macedonian town of Kocani, where a nightclub fire left 59 people dead and 155 injured.
The protesters chanted ‘murderers” and threw plastic bottles at the building.
North Macedonia’s leaders have vowed to hold those responsible to account and have detained 15 people.
A nationwide review of entertainment venue licenses has been ordered.
Sunday’s pre-dawn inferno, sparked by stage pyrotechnics during a live concert, swept through the overcrowded venue, exposing safety violations and alleged corruption.
Authorities say they are investigating allegations of bribery surrounding the nightclub that was crammed with young revellers and at double capacity.
North Macedonia is grappling with the loss of dozens of young lives and has declared seven days of mourning.
People as young as 16 were among the dead, and the toll may still rise.
