Heathrow airport update: More than 1,000 flights affected by power outage | DW News

London’s Heathrow Airport has been hit by a major power outage and will be closed until midnight on Friday. The airport says a fire at a nearby electrical substation caused the power cut. Fire crews have put the blaze out now, and authorities say there is no evidence of foul play. Many planes sit idle at the airport and more than a hundred flights were diverted while approaching at the time of the power loss. Heathrow is one of the busiest airports in the world, and the knock-on effect is expected to affect hundreds of thousands of travelers.
