Turkey update: More protests to hit Istanbul after arrest of Erdogan’s top rival | DW News

"The mayor of Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul, remains in police custody following his arrest on charges including corruption and aiding a terrorist group. Ekrem İmamoğlu is considered the top rival to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He has addressed his followers on social media, stating, ‘You cannot and must not remain silent.’
