"We suffer greatly because most people pray in the street, look, most people pray in the street. They don’t have enough space in the mosque. All this is because of the (Israeli) occupation. Destroying mosques is forbidden, what does the mosque have to do with all of this? What does the mosque have to do with the other issues? They destroyed the mosque to not let us pray. But despite the occupation and with God’s help, we will pray in it."

"Even the process of rebuilding and repairing inside the mosques involves great difficulty. And this is knowing that access to building materials has become mostly impossible. There are problems with the tools needed to repair and rebuild the mosques, so we need to have a call to help from those who can help support this issue."

STORYLINE:
People gathered to pray inside and outside a damaged mosque in the Nuseirat Camp in central Gaza on Friday, for the second Friday prayers of Ramadan.
The mosque sustained significant damage during the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Despite this, worshippers remain determined to pray there.
"They destroyed the mosque to not let us pray but despite the occupation and with God’s help, we will pray in it,” said Adnan Ahmed, the mosque’s muezzin.
The mosque’s Imam noted that rebuilding efforts are hindered by the lack of available construction materials.
"Access to building materials has become mostly impossible," said Mouhamed Abu Khousah, the Imam of Al-Farouk mosque.
"There are problems with the tools needed to repair and rebuild the mosques, so we need to have a call to help from those who can help support this issue," he added.
Israel is not allowing building material to enter the Gaza Strip.
Hamas said on Friday it has accepted a proposal from mediators to release one living American-Israeli hostage and the bodies of four dual nationals who died in captivity in Gaza.
The Palestinian militant group’s offer appears aimed at keeping up momentum on negotiations over the future of the Gaza ceasefire and the release of all Israeli hostages, living and dead.
Talks are continuing in Qatar, but there are no signs of a breakthrough.
The Israel-Hamas war in Gaza has been paused for almost a month by the fragile ceasefire, although Israel has cut off all food, medicine and electricity for Gaza as a pressure tactic against Hamas.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office cast doubt on Hamas’ latest offer, accusing it of trying to manipulate the negotiations.
