“I think that I am definitely better (than foreign fashion brands). I am ready to replace (them) and I have been replacing them for a long time, because my brand is represented not only in Russia, but also in many countries of the world, and it is also recognized in many countries, so I think that even if they had not left (Russia), I would still be a worthy competitor.”

STORYLINE:
Russian fashion brand SOLANGEL, whose outfits are popular among celebrities like Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Mariah Carey, presented its new collection in Moscow on Friday.
SOLANGEL, founded by Russian fashion designer Irena Soprano in 2019, creates evening dresses inlaid with crystals. The brand developed its own technology for applying crystals of various shapes and sizes to fabrics.
The new collection showcased at the Moscow Fashion Week is inspired by traditional Russian lace shawls from Orenburg region made of goat down, Soprano said, adding that it manifests “a new interpretation of the Russian (cultural) code.”
Asked how her brand feels amid the departure of many Western clothing brands from the country, the designer said that SOLANGEL would be a strong competitor even if they had not left Russia.
“I think that I am definitely better (than foreign fashion brands). I am ready to replace (them) and I have been replacing them for a long time, because my brand is represented not only in Russia, but also in many countries of the world,” Soprano said.
SOLANGEL outfits are currently sold in boutiques worldwide, including Paris, Munich, London, Los Angeles, Doha and Dubai.
Moscow Fashion Week runs till March 18 and features over 90 shows by some 200 fashion brands from Russia and abroad.
