Could a ‘dating app’ for video games help smaller developers? | BBC News

There’s a chance your next favourite game is already out there – but the reality is that unless you look really hard, you may not find it right away.

Discoverability is an issue which smaller game developers are faced with every year, battling against dominant giants, discounted titles and free-to-play games that retain players for a long time.

Ludocene, a dating-style app, was created in an attempt to combat this. Its recommendations are hand-picked by gaming journalists, streamers and podcasters. The hope is to stop some games slipping through the cracks. It’s going to launch in August after smashing its Kickstarter target.

BBC Newsbeat caught up with its creator Andy Robertson to see how it works, and look at whether it can make a difference?
